A Unique Educational Initiative Launches in Ukraine — The First School of Medical Device Reprocessing

The Ukrainian Association of Sterilization and Disinfection (UASD), in cooperation with the German Society for Sterile Supply (DGSV), is launching a specialized training course for Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) professionals:

“Medical Sterilization Technician, Level 1” (Fachkundelehrgang I).

🔹 Format and Structure of the Program

• Duration: 3 weeks (3 training blocks)
• Block 1: June 29 – July 3, 2026
• Block 2: July 13 – July 17, 2026
• Block 3: August 3 – August 7, 2026
• Blended format: on-site and online learning
• Instruction in Ukrainian with participation of German experts
• Final certification: written, oral, and practical examinations

🔹 Key Course Topics

• Regulatory framework and classification of medical devices
• Fundamentals of microbiology and infection control
• Organization of reprocessing departments
• Decontamination and sterilization of medical devices
• Packaging, quality control, and functional testing

🔹 Program Objective

To develop systematic knowledge and practical skills in medical device reprocessing in line with international standards for quality, patient safety, and staff safety.

🔹 Key Features

• Free of charge (participants selected on a competitive basis)
• Involvement of leading experts from DGSV and UASD
• Limited number of participants — 20

This course represents an important step toward enhancing professional competence in reprocessing in Ukraine and implementing European standards in healthcare practice.
